Employment OpportunityThe Departmental Security Unit (DSU) is responsible for managing the protective security function for the Attorney-General's Department. Senior Security Advisor in DSU, you will play an important role in continuously improving our security capability and supporting a positive security culture, empowering staff to engage with all aspects of security.The key duties of these roles will vary depending on the section within the team, but may include:
- managing a small team responsible for the provision of a variety of the departments security functions, including policy and governance, personnel security functions and security engagement
- providing advice to a broad range of stakeholders on security policies and procedures in line with the PSPF, including Senior Executives, Royal Commissions and individual line areas
- identifying and reporting on emerging security issues, incidents and trends, providing suggested solutions where applicable and undertaking risk assessments, including documenting and communicating the outcomes
- provision of support to operationalise protective security arrangements under the National Security Information (Criminal and Civil Proceedings) Act 2004, including conducting site security assessments, preparing recommendation reports based off risk assessments and other tasks to support the judicial process of matters
- appointment as a Communications Security Intelligence Officer (COMSO) to assist with management of briefings, certification/accreditation and other duties
- creating and maintaining relevant security policies which consider the needs of all employees
- monitoring and reporting on the department's security performance, including preparing briefings for executives
- coordinating and leading security education and engagement campaigns across the department
- establishing and maintaining personnel security aftercare measures, and
- developing and conducting or facilitating appropriate security awareness training programs.
