What you'll be doing
A fantastic opportunity for a Mental Health Professional to join the NSLHD Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander MHDA team on a full-time permanent position located at Macquarie Hospital, North Ryde.
Your role will be to provide care and assist services to deliver mental health care that has a holistic view of health. Care that is culturally competent and responsive to the needs of Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander People and Non-Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander people in the provision of specialist triage, assessment, consultation and care coordination of services for people experiencing mental health concerns and their families/carers.

Candidates will need to meet the following criteria:
- Consistently demonstrates behaviours that reinforce the CORE Values of our organisation; Collaboration, Openness, Respect and Empowerment. Demonstrates these behaviours with all stakeholders; colleagues, direct reports, as well as our patients and consumers, and those that care for them.
- Must be of Aboriginal descent through parentage, identification as being Aboriginal and being accepted in the community as such. An applicant's race is a genuine occupational qualification and is authorised under Section 14(d) of the NSW Anti-Discrimination Act 1977.
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in Aboriginal Health and/or Mental Health; or equivalent experience.
- Demonstrated and translatable knowledge of mental health and drug and alcohol issues for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people with experience in mental health and/or drug and alcohol and social, emotional, spiritual, wellbeing of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and their families/communities.
- Demonstrated ability to provide high quality, safe and connected care (including case management) to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and their families in a person centred and holistic manner that promotes self-determination and in context of the principles of mental health rehabilitation, recovery framework, utilising a strengths based approach.
