Business Unit Oceania is looking to recruit a Senior Accountant who will be responsible for the financial reporting of the Australian branch.
If you are the successful candidate, you will be responsible for maintaining general ledgers and executing all reporting based on IFRS17, Local GAAP as well as regulatory requirements including taxation. You will also manage a small team of AP and AR staff.

The role will report to the Finance Manager - Oceania.
In this position your key responsibilities will be:
- Monthly, quarterly and annual IFRS reporting to Group Finance, which covers posting of journals, GL account reconciliations, provisioning reviews and financial analysis.
- Tax reporting, which includes local (GST, Stamp Duty), annual branch Income tax and CBC reporting.
- Quarterly regulatory reporting, which includes preparation and lodgment of APRA returns and clear supporting work papers.
- Providing information requirements of external parties such as banks, external/internal auditors, actuaries and tax advisors
- Liaising with Group Finance and other branches for inter-company recharges and settlements
- Reporting for the India entity with the assistance of external accounting providers
Management Reporting
- Providing the business adequate information on AR /AP positions
- Providing management with information on financial and regulatory results including balance sheet and solvency positions
- Cash flow forecasts.
Other:
- Managing and developing a small team consisting of the AP and AR staff
- Involvement on policy and system set-ups and invoice approvals
- Assistance on ad-hoc projects, as required.
What qualification should you have? The ideal candidate will have the following profile:
Required qualifications:
- University graduate with a Bachelor's degree or above, with CPA or CA qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years of work experience in a relevant field
- Strong accounting, spreadsheet & analytical skills, and ability to work independently
- A team player, with self-initiative and a willingness to work under pressure
- Working experience in the Insurance industry and reporting to the local regulator in Australia (APRA) would be preferred
- Working knowledge of IFRS17 an advantage
- Oracle Finance experience desirable but not essential
