As our next Senior Administratorworking Full-Time out of Hobart, TAS, your primary responsibility will be to spearhead the design, implementation, and support of the Department of State Growth's enterprise Linux/Solaris hosting platforms, while also playing a crucial role in managing and enhancing our corporate networks and ICT infrastructure.

Your core responsibilities will include, but will not be limited to:

• Leading the design, implementation, configuration, maintenance, and enhancement of our Linux infrastructure, ensuring the seamless operation of both physical and virtual components within our VMware and Azure environments.
• Managing, remediating, and assisting with the Solaris environment.
• Crafting and maintaining robust shell and Python scripts to automate and streamline our system operations, enhancing efficiency and reliability.
• Conducting thorough research and analysis to stay ahead of emerging technologies, with a focus on identifying and implementing solutions that will propel the Department forward.
• Providing unparalleled technical advice and assistance, not only to our IT Service Desk but also across various projects with an ICT-enabling component, ensuring the delivery of expert guidance and support.

To be considered for this role, you’ll need to have a demonstrated high-level understanding of technical support, problem resolution, system design, and diagnostics of Linux-based operating systems, IT infrastructure, and facilities that provide enterprise application hosting.

You’ll be a true diagnostician, with the ability to identify hosting and network problems and implement well-designed long-term solutions as needed to strengthen the overall infrastructure.

Your highly developed communication, negotiation and conflict resolution skills will be critical in maintaining working within the team and fostering and maintaining positive relationships with stakeholders, vendors and business partners.  

Other requirements for this role include:

• Experience with network management and related technologies such as TCP networks and firewalls
• The ability to write and code in structured Python and perform deep-level automation (e.g. interface automation, monitoring scripts, etc)
