The Role
The Senior Environmental Advisor contributes to the day-to-day operations of Coolgardie Gold Operations (CGO), environmental approvals applications and environment team activities for all Focus Minerals Operations.
Duties include:
The Senior Environmental Advisor is responsible for assisting the Environment Manager to provide technical support and advice for Focus Exploration and Operational areas in order to ensure that we have all the required operating approvals.
- Assist with day-to-day operations on site from an environmental perspective
- Act as the go-to advisor in relation to site staff queries around environmental approvals requirements.
- Identify site Approval requirements and work with Environment Manager to ensure relevant approvals are obtained.
- Assist with ensuring all environmental and planning approvals required are current and compliant to ensure Focus is not in breach of any regulatory requirements.
- Development and coordination of the acquisition of baseline data to support applications for approvals.
- Assist with management of external consultants
- Assist with negotiation and communication with regulatory bodies during the approval process.
- To ensure Mine Closure Plans are up to date and lead the revision process.
- To assist in management of the environmental risk register based on conditions of approval and closure plans.
- Manage the companies environmental database system.
About You
To be successful in this role you will have the following:
- Tertiary qualification in Environmental Science / Management or related field
- Experience in the Mining and Exploration fields
- Demonstrated awareness and knowledge of relevant Australian Environmental legal and other requirements (Federal and state)
- Experience in statistical analysis of environmental data including interpretation of spatial and temporal trends.
- Must be proactive and be able to recognise problems and seek and implement solutions.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing and can consistently demonstrate strong interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work autonomously and flexibly.
