A member of the Global Climate Change and Sustainability Team and reporting to the Head of Sustainability this role is responsible for managing the preparation of BlueScope’s corporate sustainability disclosures and business unit engagement on corporate sustainability commitments.
Responsibilities include:
- Project manage and develop/copywrite the annual sustainability content in accordance with BlueScope’s agreed approach to integrated sustainability disclosures and reporting in accordance with the forthcoming International Sustainability Standards Board (ISSB) and Australian Sustainability Reporting Standards (ASRS) requirements.
- Manage the development and deployment of sustainability content into internal and external narrative, communications and Engagement activities. This includes working with Corporate Affairs and Strategy Marketing teams to integrate sustainability into internal and external narrative, communications and Engagement with a particular focus on Employee and Customer value propositions
- Develop engagement collateral and training content to better enable/equip our leaders and employees to communicate BlueScope’s sustainability priorities to their teams, businesses, and key stakeholders.
- Design and implement efficient and effective integrated Group sustainability communication governance processes to mitigate reputational and greenwashing risks.
- Manage the development of materials to elevate BlueScope’s participation in key external sustainability events (e.g. conference and sustainability related investor presentation materials, etc.).
- Business Unit sustainability engagement and training programs
- Sustainability lead on Strategic marketing and brand forums
Qualifications
This is a new position in our business and as such you will need demonstrated experience in sustainability Subject Matter Resource or similar roles (e.g. HSE), with knowledge of best-practice and future trends in sustainability themes, risks and opportunities.
Ideally you will also have:
- Tertiary qualifications in communications, journalism, science, HSE, sustainability, economics, commerce, or similar.
- Demonstrable experience producing/copywriting high quality sustainability disclosures and collateral, and alignment to emerging sustainability standards and stakeholder expectations.
- Experience building trust and delivering sustainability support and advice to corporate functions, including C-Suite stakeholders.
- Experience consulting to and/or working in large corporates delivering sustainability subject matter expertise and producing sustainability reports
