A. B. Heritage Consulting are seeking applications from qualified senior Heritage Advisors/ Archaeologists with demonstrated Project Management experience. We are seeking someone who is keen to further utilise their management skills and satisfy their need for adventure whilst working at some exciting, sometimes remote, locations throughout Victoria. Your role:
The successful applicant will have demonstrated experience in managing all aspects of cultural heritage projects, from inception to completion. The tasks that you will be responsible for will include:
- Demonstrated experience in managing projects, and milestones and stakeholders within, from inception to delivery
- Forming strong and effective, mutually beneficial working relationships with Traditional Owners
- Providing our clients with expert heritage advice
- Research and reporting, including the preparation of Cultural Heritage Management Plans (CHMP), Cultural Heritage Permits (CHP), Survey reports, Salvage reports, Due diligence assessments, and Preliminary Aboriginal Heritage Tests (PAHT)
- Supervising archaeological field surveys
- Supervising archaeological excavations, including salvage excavations
- Managing the repatriation of Aboriginal cultural heritage material
- Supporting colleagues to develop skills and awareness of the heritage industry
Key Selection Criteria:
- 5+ years’ experience in a Project Management capacity, having led teams to deliver large scale projects from inception to completion
- Heritage Advisor accreditation
- Degree in Archaeology, to at least Honours level
- Experience in meeting deadlines across multiple large-scale projects simultaneously
- Prior experience writing and contributing to a wide range of heritage reports
- Willingness to work in remote parts of Victoria
- Extensive understanding of how to summarise and apply cultural heritage legislation such as the Aboriginal Heritage Act 2006 and Heritage Act 2017 and local Government policy in the context of planning and development impacts
- Ability to present technical findings and relaying information to a non-technical audience, including clients and community
- Ability to work well in a team
- Established strong and effective working relationships with Traditional Owners in the regions in which you have already worked
- Experience using GIS for analysis and mapping a strong bonus
