How will I help?
This is a Senior Architect position within the broader CTO team, working closely with Information Security Group to form a bridge between business goals and technology realities. You will be responsible for engaging with various stakeholders in order to understand their goals and objectives. Collaboration with the CTO community and broader technology teams is crucial to successfully developing cross functional end to end solutions and to ensure that design issues are resolved, and benefits are realised.
You will need to be technical minded and have a strategic focus while directly influencing business investment decisions to ensure they inform and further the reference architecture and roadmap pertaining to the Cybersecurity domain, while align with broader enterprise reference architecture.
Your key responsibilities may include:
- Provide expert technology advice and guidance to all aspects of projects & programs delivering security capabilities, including program management, analysts, technical leads, implementors, testers and run teams.
- Promote the enterprise security architecture outcomes and value proposition to the organisation.
- Review new and existing projects for information security compliance by developing, documenting, and communicating adherence to architecture policies & standards.
- Work within virtual project teams to define the security requirements of an application and deciding on an optimal design for subsequent development.
- Facilitate high quality and timely IT security estimates to ensure effective IT estimation of technology solutions.
- Drive the application of Architecture policies, standards, and guidelines to ensure effective security solutions are designed in accordance with business requirements, Group Standards and Strategy.
- Recommend improvement opportunities within portfolio to drive continuous security improvement and ensure Westpac remains innovative and up to date with market leading technologies and industry trends.
- Analyse technology industry and market trends to determine their potential impact on the enterprise.

What do I need?
To be successful in this role, you may need the following skills and experience:
- Proven experience as a Solution Architect with a strong focus on information security.
- Deep knowledge of application security principles, OWASP Top Ten, and industry best practices.
- Familiarity with threat modelling, Cyber Security control frameworks and standards.
- Experience in designing and implementing modern security solutions (inc. DevOps, Kubernetes & Serverless) in large, complex environments.
- Strong understanding of financial services industry regulations and compliance requirements.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Experience with CI/CD automation is desirable.
- Relevant certifications (e.g., CISSP, CISM) are a plus.
- Familiarity of working within an agile environment.
