About the PositionReporting to the Team Leader Building and Compliance, the Senior Building Officer is responsible for ensuring the delivery of professional, efficient and effective building advice and development assessment services to Council, other community organisations, State Government authorities, developers and the public generally, and to ensure that Council’s statutory obligations under relevant legislation(s) are met. You will promote development that achieves a high-quality built environment in accordance with the National Construction Code, Building Surveying Level 2 (multi-story/commercial) and associated Building Standards and Acts.
Key responsibilities of the role include (but are not limited to):
- Assessing the full range of development applications
- Investigating and addressing building compliance matters
- Performing inspections in accordance with Council’s Building Inspections Policy
- Contributing to the continuous improvement of the team and department.
- The training and development of Level 3 accredited Building Officers in more complex development assessments and inspections, to enable Building Officers to aspire for Level 2 Building Surveyor accreditation.
- Maintain improvements to Councils procedures in notifications and inspections.

About youTo succeed in this role, you will have:
- A minimum of four years’ experience in development assessment, inspection and compliance functions with a willingness and drive to deliver high level customer service.
- A willingness to undergo a pre-employment medical and a police check.
You are a Building Surveyor with Level 1 or 2 with
- relevant qualifications in building surveying
- Current SA State Government building accreditation to Level 1 or Level 2 under the Planning, Development and Infrastructure Act 2016
- Experience in Local Government will be valued.

Salary range is between $100,107 and $106,436 per annum plus superannuation guarantee and will be negotiated commensurate with skills, experience and qualifications.
