Job description
As the Senior Business Support Advisor (Budget) you will support the Principal Business Support Advisor and Business Manager providing financial management advice on budgeting & management accounting issues related to OIR directorates and provide financial reporting, undertake forecasting and analysis. The position also works collaboratively and effectively within and across business streams within Office of Industrial Relations
Key responsibilities of the role include:
* Provide advice on the development, implementation and ongoing operations of budget management and performance.
* Support the business to develop and implement budget allocations and performance methodologies.
* Build and foster cooperative working relationships with stakeholders.
* In consultation with the Principal Advisor identify, advise and develop strategies on strategic resourcing issues that impact on funding.
* Assist with the development of systems, process and tools for the management accounting function
* Undertake financial analysis of capital and operating expenditure and other data analyses to support effective planning and month forecasting.
* Provide monthly reporting analysis and advice to business on cost centre performance in terms of expenditure, FTEs and activity highlighting relevant variances to assist in decision making.
* Undertake research activities and draft submissions, reports and briefing materials on finance, budget development and management issues.
* Assist with analysis and advice on organisational and business unit financial and budgetary performance and financial management.
* Support the business in the financial management requirements of the annual State Budget for the preparation of the Budget papers, Annual Report, briefing notes to the Minister in relation to the Cabinet Budget Review Committee and the Estimates Committee hearing.
* Ensure the health, safety and wellbeing of the team(s) over which you have responsibility. This includes ensuring you and your team members are aware of and observing their responsibilities and obligations including under relevant OIR HSW policies and procedures.
