What you'll do
A key pillar of our EverydayX strategy is creating long term member value, with a clear focus on members and subscribers across Woolworths Supermarkets, BigW and the wider Group.
In this role you will play a critical role in building and strengthening the commercial capability across EverydayX, balancing business commercial goals with long term member value and loyalty objectives for our Everyday businesses, partnerships and emerging opportunities. You will co-create the development and implementation of strategies, tools and business practices that are aimed at driving a long term sustainable Everyday business model and balancing short term ROI on member investments, whilst maintaining a strong voice for member value as part of the overall customer value proposition.
In this role you will play a critical role in supporting the commercial capability across EverydayX, supporting delivery of business commercial goals with long term member value and loyalty objectives for our Everyday businesses, partnerships and emerging opportunities. You will support the implementation of strategies, tools and business practices that are aimed at driving a long term sustainable Everyday business model and balancing short term ROI on member investments, whilst maintaining a strong voice for member value as part of the overall customer value proposition.
This includes, but is not limited to supporting the development, enhancement and implementation of core strategies, measurement tools, methodologies and business practices that are aimed at driving an increase in ROI on this critical investment in our Members. The Snr Commercial Manager EDX will increase the share of high performing Member investments and reduce wastage/low ROI spend, across the EDX portfolio.
With joint responsibility for a multi-million dollar annual benefits target, this role will lead a cross functional squad of direct and indirect team members. You will manage a hybrid team of approximately 2+ individuals, across a broad range of roles, including analysts, data engineers & data scientists, from both EDX & wiq (Woolworths analytics arm). The role presents an opportunity to develop your senior stakeholder engagement skills, requiring regular engagement with Execs & Snr leadership.
This is a great opportunity to position yourself as a business & thought leader and to develop core senior leadership skills that are crucial to progressing into more senior roles in Buying.
This is an important role in ensuring that the EverydayX business resonates with team, members, Partners & suppliers, as part of the broader EDX Member & loyalty strategy
Key Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
  • Co-own a multi-million dollar annual Commercial benefits target, working in partnership with EDX & Partner teams to deliver strategic initiatives, improved ROI and reduced wasteful spend
  • Establish a community of practice within the EDX, that is focused on continuously developing & uplifting the toolkit of the Commercial team to deliver better Commercial outcomes
  • Deliver value creation across the EDX portfolio, in strong collaboration with Partner teams and across all levels of leadership, through the development & deployment of strong, Member first strategies for the entire Group and our Partners, and Develop & own the business requirements & enhancement roadmap for our tools & Processes
  • Drive business buy-in & cut-through, to enable the adoption of fit for purpose recommendations, solutions, development of Banner specific EDX strategies and value creation roadmaps to deliver annual portfolio improvement benefits targets
  • Establish a community of practice within the EDX, that is focused on continuously developing & uplifting the toolkit of the Commercial team to deliver better Commercial outcomes
  • Reimagine & deliver our future commercial processes, partnering to build enabling tools, processes, analytics/ insights & reporting to support partners in planning & decision making, supported by state of the art AI / data science
What you'll bring
You are a highly motivated, analytical individual, who is looking to accelerate your leadership development journey inRetail/Loyalty Buying and gain critical, broader-thinking business experience
Delivering outstanding experiences for both our internal EDX & buying teams and supplier partners, you have extensive product ownership & commercial transformation/ strategy experience which will enable you to drive fit for purpose business tools & outcomes.
You maintain a local market and global perspective on emerging technologies and trends, and will bring to the role a demonstrated experience supporting the development and coaching of others in their existing roles as well as future career aspirations. You strive to maintain a competitive edge, and pride yourself on your strong influencing skills which enable you to influence teams to drive and adopt innovation and commercial outcomes, balancing long & short term value delivery.
Key skills, attributes and desirable experience includes:
  • Experienced strategy / business transformation professional, with previous Commercial, Loyalty, Partnerships or Retail experience advantageous
  • Financial & commercial acumen and ability to analyse information, identify trends and prioritise
  • Fast-paced, effective decision making and highly organised
  • Ability to think strategically and shape the vision and strategic deliverables for your area
  • Exceptional leadership skills and experience in developing high performing teams
