About the Role
Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Commercial Manager to support the Energy Networks and Renewables (EN&R) Business Unit (BU) within their Infrastructure Services (IS) Sector in Australia. The role will specifically focus on the improvement in commercial capability and standardisation of project controls across the Business Unit. This role can be based in Sydney, Brisbane or Melbourne.
The role will also play a vital role in supporting the BU in the development of the BU strategy.
Reporting to the BU General Manager, this role will see you provide expert commercial and contract support and guidance to the EN&R delivery teams across various contracts and projects for a wide range of customers and segments within the Electricity, Gas and Renewables.
Duties and responsibilities
- Develop and maintain key working relationships with the relevant stakeholders, including Clients, BU General Manager and Project teams and Corporate support functions.
- As part of the EN&R Australia leadership team contribute to the development of strategies and plans to achieve the desired business objectives
- Use available data to identify under-performing areas of the BU and develop and implement performance improvement plans
- Lead the resolution of any commercial claims and disputes if they arise.
- Develop and maintain a comprehensive working knowledge of the EN&R head contracts.
- Provide Commercial Leadership for project mobilisations to ensure sustained project success.
- Ensure subcontractor and supplier procurement and administration is in accordance to policy and procedures, including managing the development and implementation of subcontract and supplier agreements. Ensure that all contracts meet the legal, commercial and corporate standards.
- Review effectiveness of current project controls, systems and procedures within EN&R Australia and identify and implement strategies for improvement in accordance with policy and procedures
- Ensure the effective implementation of commercial and financial risk and opportunity management.
- Develop and lead the implementation of best practise policies and procedures and continue to drive innovation to improve efficiency and effectiveness across the Business Unit
- In conjunction with corporate stakeholders implement and manage a regular project health check regime including ongoing management to ensure identified actions are closed in a timely manner.

- You will have a tertiary qualification accompanied with 5+ years experience as a Commercial Manager.
- Ability to lead commercial negotiations in an environment of constant change with large and complex deals
- Demonstrated ability to work independently to organise and prioritise demands, handle multiple complex tasks simultaneously, set and meet deadlines and follow-through within a fast-paced environment with multiple and competing demand.
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office suite.
- Experience with SAP, Ariba and Power BI desirable
- Advanced knowledge of various project control systems and strategies
- Demonstrable experience in effective change management
