Senior Community Support Worker (Youth Worker )

As a registered NDIS provider, New Horizons specialize in supporting people with disability, mental health concerns, those who are aged, people at risk of homelessness, humanitarian entrants, youth, and Indigenous Australians.

Based in Ryde, the role is SeniorCommunity Support Worker position on a Full-timebasis for Max-term ending 31st December 2024 with a potential for extension, with rotating shifts providing the highest quality in high needs / complex care disability services with backgrounds specifically with working with young children. 

The hours of work vary from weekday shifts, and weekend shift.

As a Senior Community support Worker - Youth, you are required to provide support to children with an understanding of child protection services including behavioral issues, and resilience. 

Ideally you will have previous extensive experience working with youth and supporting them, and advocacy for children and young people. You are skilled at motivating & mentoring and can create solutions when challenges arise.

Key responsibilities 

• Provide psychosocial support to children and young people to improve their independence and wellbeing by assisting with living skills, transport, social activities and other support as required.
• Facilitate the timely, supportive, inclusive and recovery orientated coordination of care for children and young people with suicidality, psychosocial distress and complex needs
• Develop, implement and review Safety Plans and Person centered individualized support plans for customers, which incorporate their identified wellbeing needs and aspirations.
• Participate in co-production and evaluation activities as required by the organisation
• Contribute to the development of work methods and the setting of outcomes

You are

• Abe to understand child protection, with an experience in managing behavior issues and resilience.
• Excellent documentation and negotiating skills and conflict management
• Willingness to attend assigned training specific to the customer

What you need to have

• Appropriate certificate level qualification in Disability or Community Services, OR equivalent relevant experience in the human services industry
• Valid NSW Drivers C class licence, with ability to drive vehicles in licence class, including large cars and vans.
• First-Aid Certificate
• Must be fit to undertake the physical requirements of customer support, including the capacity to lift 10 kilograms unassisted
• Intermediate skills in Microsoft Office, other common systems
