The Role
We are seeking an experiencedSenior Construction Estimatorto join our team. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in the estimation process, working closely with the Construction Manager and Director to ensure the successful execution of projects. This is a full-time position based in our North Lakes office.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare accurate and timely estimates for residential and commercial construction projects – including conducting thorough site assessments and analysis to inform estimation processes.
- Liaise with surveyors, construction workers and managers, contractors, architects, and local authorities to plan and determine whether a project is feasible.
- Determine overall costs for labour, planning for blueprints, equipment, costs of materials, site drawings, and other elements that are involved in the construction project.
- Utilise Buildertrend software to streamline the estimation process.
- Collaborate with the Construction Manager and Director to ensure project requirements are met.
- Ensure construction progress is within the estimated budget and track any upward trends in costs.
- Reduce high costs and improve efficiency. Make adjustments to material use where required and find suppliers for clients to meet targets and requirements.
- Recommend different ways clients can reduce costs.
- Interpret exchange rates, surcharges, and inflation for the construction project.
- Negotiate deals and request quotes from suppliers for the client.
- Keep abreast of industry trends and developments to ensure competitiveness and accuracy in estimates.
- Provide ongoing support and assistance to the construction team as needed.
Qualification and Skills
- Professional Organisation Skills - Strong organisational skills and attention to detail. Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience- Proven track record, with relevant experience as an estimator in both residential and commercial projects. Proficiency in Buildertrend software desirable but not essential.
- Problem-Solving Skills - Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to address challenges and find practical solutions.
- Communication Skills - Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Qualifications/Licence - Relevant qualifications in construction, engineering, or a related field. Up to date knowledge of building codes.
