The RoleMACA Ltd has a newly created opportunity for a Legal Counsel based in our, conveniently located with modern facilities and fittings, West Perth office. Supporting operations across multiple divisions and with responsibility for projects covering Thiess West and MACA Global, there is some travel required.The focus of this position is on drafting, reviewing, and negotiating commercial transactions, while managing risk, to obtain the best outcomes for the business.The successful candidate will have completed a tertiary degree in law, a practicing certificate and jurisdiction to work in Australia, as well demonstrating 3+ years' experience in either private practice or an in-house legal department with a focus or strong exposure to civil construction or mining services required.You will have the ability to analyse complex legal and regulatory material, communicate the implications in clear and straightforward language, and recommend appropriate courses of action.Secure your future with WA's number 1 ContractorMACA is a leading integrated contracting services group specialising in mining, civil construction, infrastructure, and mineral processing.We strive to be the best by investing in our people, understanding our clients' needs, and having a relentless focus on continuous improvement. In this role, you will:- Review tender documents and perform contract risk assessments
- Negotiate contract terms with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers
- Develop and maintain commercial and respectful relationships with clients, regulators, joint venture partners and other business partners including suppliers and subcontractors
- Detailed understanding of contractual and legislative interpretation with practical, commercial advice on its application to the business
- Proactively manage claims, disputes, and litigation always with consideration of best for business options and minimal external cost
