Fixed salary of $88,173 pa plus superannuation and annual leave loading
Incidental allowance of $5,765 fixed pa is applied
Your role
This role provides a high standard of security, assistance and support to Governors, senior management, and officers-in-charge of correctional centres within NSW and to assist with the detection and the maintenance of good order, discipline, safety, and security of Correctional Centres. To supervise, train and lead the daily activities of Correctional Officers within Security Operations Group to ensure delivery of quality services.
This is a rostered role and requires shift and weekend work.
What you'll do
With the Security Operations Group, you will lead our K9 teams and our contraband detection efforts to support the safety and security of our correctional environment.
You will coordinate K9 training and K9 operations to meet our Key Performance Indicators. You will lead our SOG K9 operations, promote and drive collaboration with Immediate Action Teams and frontline officers to support Governors, senior management and officers in charge maintain the good order, discipline, safety and security our correctional centres.
What we're looking for
The successful applicant must have Certificate III in Correctional Practice or appropriate and relevant custodial experience.
The successful applicant must be prepared to reside or be willing to relocate within 115 kilometres of the nominated K9 Unit Base and must have a secure yard to house a CSNSW Dog.
Must be prepared to undertake further training in emergency and security procedures, travel at short notice and may be required to spend extended periods away from their place of residence.
Applicants will be required to pass the standard Security Operations Group fitness test prior to progressing to participation in a selection day. Must hold a current driver's licence and have the ability and willingness to drive official vehicles throughout NSW.
Applicants will be required to have a residential yard or be prepared to relocate into a residential property that has a yard within a set time frame, if their application is successful. This will be reviewed by the State K9 Manager. A full residential inspection will be conducted at the residence of the successful applicant. Any costs involved with the upgrade of the yard will be the responsibility of the successful applicant. No other dogs other than the departmental dog will be permitted to reside at the residence of the successful handler unless approved by the Senior Assistant Superintendent of the K9 Unit.
Essential Requirements
Certificate III in Correctional Practice or appropriate and relevant custodial experience
Current driver's licence appropriate to meet all job requirements and ability and willingness to drive official vehicles throughout NSW
Pass and maintain the standard Security Operations fitness test
Have completed or ability to complete all requirements of the NSW Corrective Services Dog Handlers Course and able to meet and maintain the standards of an operational CSNSW K9 handler
Have completed or the ability to complete the Emergency Response Operators Course (EROC)
Capacity and willingness to travel at short notice and to spend extended periods away from own residence
Capacity and willingness to undertake further training to perform the duties of any area within SOG including emergency and security procedures
Will be required to successfully complete induction training courses within the Security Operations Group
