Removal OperationsLeading Border Force Officers undertake a range of activities to plan and conduct the removal of unlawful non-citizens (UNCs) from Australia. They work under limited supervision to undertake assessments to determine the status of UNCs and requirements for their removal.
Field OperationsLeading Border Force Officers conduct enforcement action to prevent, detect, deter and enforce breaches of migration law. They locate and detain UNCs who are identified as a risk to the safety of the community or who pose a threat to the integrity of Australia's visa system. They promote employer compliance with their obligations under the Migration Act through employer awareness visits and targeted compliance activities.
Removals and Field Officers work in close collaboration with a variety of internal and external stakeholders to coordinate and execute Field Operations and removals plans. They use their well-developed understanding of the legislation and departmental policies within which they operate and apply their powers appropriately.
These roles provide a unique and challenging opportunity for officers to develop and enhance their operational skills whilst working on complex cases within a high profile and politically sensitive environment. The successful candidates will proactively deliver high quality outcomes in a complex and dynamic operational environment, including where there is conflict or heightened risk.

The candidate will be a highly effective communicator and possess a demonstrated ability to exercise sound judgement, make timely decisions and possess strong interpersonal skills in working as part of a team and dealing with a wide range of stakeholders. They will have effective conflict management and resolution skills.
Leading Border Force Officers are multi-skilled, mobile, agile and responsive. Candidates should consider their personal capabilities against the following when preparing their application.

Role requirements/qualifications:
Some positions within the Australian Border Force require the occupant to meet Border Force Officer essential qualifications. If successful, candidates are required to:
- Attain and maintain relevant medical, fitness and psychometric standards
- Swear an oath or make an affirmation
- Actively participate in career management (postings and deployments)
- Be uniformed
- Obtain and maintain a valid Australian drivers licence
- Obtain and maintain essential and role-specific qualifications.
- Work outside standard hours, undertake regional and interstate travel, or provide on-call services.
- Represent the Department at external forums
Mandatory requirements:
All staff performing the Removal Operation and Field Operations role will require:
- Obtain and maintain Working With Children Check
- Obtain and maintain First Aid Certificate

Eligibility
To be eligible for the position you must be an Australian Citizen.
The successful candidate will be required to obtain and maintain a Baseline Vetting (AGSVA) security clearance and an Employment Suitability Clearance (ESC).
