The Role
The Senior Cost Controller is a key member of the Site Capital Projects Team. This role is responsible for implementing and overseeing project control disciplines for a portfolio of capital projects at Albemarle’s Kemerton Plant. The Senior Cost Controller will work closely with colleagues in manufacturing, process technology (PT), HSE, contracting and procurement, and other functional groups to deliver safe, competitive, and predictable projects that meet or exceed the budgets and long-range plans for the Lithium Global Business Unit (GBU).
Key Responsibilities
- Timely and accurate reporting on cost and progress to corporate GBU including monthly variance analysis and narrative.
- Assist project managers in the development and management of Project Controls specific Albemarle Project Process (APP) deliverables.
- Preparing the Authority For Expenditure (AFE) and advancing the projects through the APP gated process in SAP Portfolio Project Management (PPM).
- Establishment of the project’s Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) and allocation of budget in SAP Project System (PS).
- Early identification and tracking of project changes in change register.
- Preparation and/or supervision of Project Change Requests (PCR) and maintenance of change register.
- Monthly allocation of owners team S&B, overheads,.3rd party engineering and other vendor costs from cost centre to projects.
- Prepare and submit monthly phased forecast for each project in SAP PPM.
- Liaise with finance representatives for the month end closing process, including calculating Value of Work Done (VOWD), accruals, and SAP journal entries.
- Coordinate and prepare the cost input to the Annual Operating Plan (AOP) and Long Range Planning (LRP).
- Assist wider project team and procurement with purchase requisitions and good receipting in SAP
About You

- Minimum of 5 years’ experience as an Owner’s project control representative in a mining or industrial manufacturing environment preferred.
- Demonstration of experience on capital projects across all stages/phases. It is preferred that the experience is a mix of time in office as well as time on site.
- Previous experience with SAP highly regarded.

- Business, Finance or Engineering Degree or equivalent preferred
