Full-time - Salary - $72,000 plus accommodation – TotalSalary Package $85,000
Experience:
Must have relevant agricultural experience, in a full-time capacity, for at least 3 yearsor have a Certificate III in Agriculture. The position is supervised by thefarm manager/owner.
Duties:
· Planall aspects of milk production processes including management & coordination of milking shed routines
· Coordinate & implement reproductive programs, including artificialinsemination & herd fertility managements, detection of oestrous &pregnancy
· Assistin controlled breeding experiments to develop improved livestock strains
· Implementcalving procedures, including the ability to physically conduct unsupervisedinternal assessments to minimize the incidents of still births or injuries tocow or calf
· Plan& manage pastures & crops for livestock production & developlivestock feeding plans
· Analyseproduce to see & maintain standard of quality
· Superviseanimal health programs, handle sick or injured animals & maintain anoptimal environment for the wellbeing of livestock consistent with theAustralian Animal Welfare Standards & Guidelines - Cattle
· Supervisework routines & staff performances of less experiences employees such as anassistant farm hand
· Implement& monitor quality assurance procedures, ensuring compliance & that allrelevant documentation is kept current
· Operatemilking plant & equipment in a safe manner, undertake multiple functionsincluding reading & recording instrument information e.g milk vattemperature & cow numbers & matching cow ID to calves to produce aquality milk outcome.
· Operatea dairy recycling system
· Calffeeding including tubing colostrum
· Assisting& performing irrigation works
· Inspectlivestock to gauge the effectiveness of feed formulae
· Transport,handle & store chemicals; prepare & apply chemicals
· Operatefarm & dairy shed related vehicles, plant & equipment
· Identify& report equipment not operating normally; maintenance of plant &machinery
· Whereappropriately qualified, perform maintenance work on sheds, fixtures &fittings, fences & surrounds & install new or replacement equipment orfittings
· Transportstock, feed & equipment , if appropriately licensed
· Maintainrecords to ensure accurate information for stock & inventory control
· Ensurefood & safety regulatory requirements are met
· Contributeto & implement Occupational Health & Safety (OH&S) requirements
· Operatecomputer equipment & software packages requiring set up & basicfunction operation
· Coordinate the response to emergencies for both occupational health & safetyemergencies & animal welfare emergencies
· Participatein enterprise/industry sessions & workshops as required
