You will be part of a growing Engineering Community at Optus and will have the opportunity to work on impactful business projects.The role of a Senior Data Engineer is responsible for modelling raw data into clean, tested, and reusable datasets to make it easier for business data teams and other business partners to view and understand our data in a warehouse or database.In collaboration with Data Governance, you will also be responsible for producing and maintaining data documentation to ensure that everyone uses the same definitions and language. This involves providing identifiable and understandable descriptions of data as well as exposing them in a way for all consumers to find answers to their queries unassisted.Ready to reimagine your career at Optus?
- Prioritise efficient, timely and accurate delivery of data sets against business requirements and to work across various data platforms and APIs to create pipelines.
- Design, build, and optimise the data architecture and Extract, Transform, and Load (ETL) pipelines to make them accessible for Data Analysts, Data Scientists, and business users to enable data-driven & informed decision-making.
- Write data transformation jobs through using python and SQL based code in cloud platform.
- Provide mentorship for the consolidation of information from across the business to present a comprehensive view of product performance and customer behaviour.
- Closely collaborating with the business partner teams to share insights and provide requirements and recommendations on when advanced data models could be developed and implemented to improve business outcomes.
- Tertiary qualifications in a quantitative field (e.g., Data Engineering, Data Science, Mathematics) and equivalent practical experience in a relevant background.
- Experience in an IT or data environment, working with cloud-based data solutions.
- Experience working with relational databases and data lakes, with an emphasis on data warehousing, performance tuning, and analytics use cases.
- Proficiency in analytical techniques such as statistical modelling, experience in advanced SQL, particularly in modelling and querying optimisations, plus hands-on experience with ETL/data pipeline development experience.
- Superb communication, interpersonal and presentation skills with proven ability to work through sophisticated issues to reach an outcome.
- Flexibility to handle conflicting priorities and balance demands on time, be a proactive self-starter, with the ability to use a high level of initiative, attention to detail and accuracy.
