As a group, we are growing rapidly and as part of the , actively helping to advance the energy transition towards net zero.Our Digital Division currently has two permanent, full-time opportunities available for a Senior Data Platform Specialist to be located at any of our major locations – Brisbane, Toowoomba, Maryborough, Rockhampton, Mackay, Townsville or Cairns – and are inviting applications from suitably qualified candidates.About your new role:Working as a Senior Data Platform Specialist (Data Engineer), you’re responsible for leading the development of data pipelines (ETL/ELT pipelines) to meet business reporting, analytical and big data needs within our Enterprise Intelligence department.You design and develop scalable cloud data pipelines, delivering data to our new petabyte-scale cloud-native Enterprise Data Platform on AWS, using Databricks as a principal technology. Specifically, you develop new data pipelines on AWS using Databricks Jobs, Databricks Delta Live Tables, and Fivetran.Supporting data pipelines running in production, you actively use your detailed technical knowledge to effectively analyse and resolve problems. As source systems are upgraded or replaced, you analyse the impact and update data pipelines and data models as needed, working with various dashboard and report developers to mitigate downstream impacts.One exciting aspect of your role is that you support data pipelines required for AI training, such as forecasting electricity demand.A key part of your role also sees your regularly mentoring and supporting fellow data engineers as they transition from on-premise ETL platforms to the cloud.The remuneration for your new role starts from $140k plus 12.75% super for a 9-day fortnight and $159k plus 12.75% super for a 10-day fortnight.For more information about this role, click on the Position Description link located at the bottom of the page.Why choose to work for us?It’s an exciting time to join us and be involved in the energy sector, so consider us for your next career move where you’ll experience:

About you:You’re an experienced digital professional who holds a degree qualification in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related discipline. Alternatively, you possess equivalent industry experience and demonstrated competence required for success.Ideally, you hold formal certifications in Databricks and/or AWS.It’s important you also demonstrate the following skills and experience:
  • Demonstrated expert data engineering experience in designing, implementing, and operating high-volume data pipelines at large scale for reporting and analytics (e.g. 40+ source systems, terabytes of data, thousands of tables).
  • Strong SQL and data modelling skills.
  • Solid experience developing and supporting Data Platforms on AWS.
  • Python coding experience or strong equivalent experience in another language.
  • Experience with version control, ideally Git and CI/CD pipelines (ideally GitHub Actions).
  • Desirable only – Experience with any of SAP Data Services, IBM Data Stage, Oracle, SAP HANA, AWS Aurora (or PostgreSQL), Microsoft SQL Server, Power BI, Tableau, or SAP BusinessObjects.
  • Desirable only – An interest in AI model training / MLOps (e.g. Databricks MLflow).
