Dental Health Services Victoria is the leading public oral health agency in Victoria. Our aim is to improve the oral health of all Victorians, particularly vulnerable groups, and those most in need. About the role:
The Senior Dental Assistant in Paediatrics is responsible for supporting the Team Leader in the daily supervision and coaching of Dental Assistants within the team and supporting clinical management/operations across the Paediatrics Department. The role is also assisting the Team Leader in a range of specific development activities within the team.
Your responsibilities:
- Manage consumable stock and re-ordering, equipment maintenance and clinical rostering.
- In collaboration with the Dental Assistant Team Leader, implement agreed strategies to ensure effective service delivery
- Collaborate with clinicians to provide optimal patient care and assist in ensuring patient needs are considered in all clinical decisions and oral health education and promotion.
- Perform dental assisting chair side duties as and when required to meet the operational needs of the organisation
- Conduct audits in line with accreditation standards and organisational requirements
You will have:
- Certificate IV in Dental Assisting or equivalent
- Experience in coaching and managing the performance of a small team in a clinical setting
- Knowledge in rostering and resource management
- Strong knowledge of patient care processes, techniques and terminology within an oral health environment
