Position Outcomes / Accountabilities
- Build strong working relationships between the Minister's office, the Department and other ministerial offices, as required.
- Manage and lead a small team of Departmental staff.
- Manage and coordinate administrative, communication requirements, protocols and provide decision making advice between the Minister's office and the Department.
- Develop strategies and solutions that contribute to the effective management of information between the department and ministerial offices.
- Provide high level and proactive and authoritative advice to the Secretary, Senior Departmental officers and ministerial staff on relevant administrative and other matters.
- Liaise effectively across the DLO network, and with staff at all levels in the Group and the Department.
Key Selection Criteria
To be successful in the role the ideal candidate will have…
- Detailed knowledge of the Department's structure, administrative mechanisms and protocols, and business activities.
- Ability to lead and manage a team ensuring work is prioritised and allocated.
- Demonstrated ability to work on concurrent issues under strict timelines in a sometimes-unstructured environment.
- Understanding of the functions and operation of government, including Cabinet, Parliament, and procedures associated with legislation, together with experience in the public sector.
- Excellent organisational, analytical and strategic planning skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Proven experience in reviewing confidential correspondence, briefings and submissions.
Qualifications and Experience
- Knowledge of or familiarity with the Transport Sector policy environment.
- Experience in the use of Microsoft Office 365 and Government eBriefings system (or similar
