Melbourne Storm is an Australian professional rugby league club playing in the National Rugby League (NRL) competition. It is the only NRL team based in Victoria and has experienced substantial growth and success in its short history.
About the role
Reporting to the Head of Marketing, a rare opportunity exists for a highly motivated Senior Designer to join our small but mighty Marketing team. With one direct report, the Senior Designer will need to bring creativity, collaboration and relationship management skills while working closely with a number of stakeholders in order to lead the development, coordination and production of graphic design requirements across all areas of the Club, including consumer marketing, membership, retail ticketing, corporate sales, and football.
Planning and executing the delivery of all elements of creative production, including brand design, visual identity, and upholding style guidelines to build brand awareness, consumer engagement and ultimately support revenue growth for the organisation, will be the primary focus or this role.
The successful candidate will require a broad focus, with the ability to multitask and deliver upon tight deadlines. A willingness to take a hands-on approach and the ability to use initiative will be essential to be success of this role. An energised creative who can produce high end, engaging deliverables at pace is a must.
Due to the nature of our industry, this role will be required to work some weekends and evenings at game days and nominated Club events.
This role will be responsible for a number of key deliverables including, but not limited to:
- Designing all visual elements of marketing communications including print, digital and corporate advertisements and game days/events, apparel and membership items.
- Designing all internal requests including corporate documents, sponsorship decks and proposals and well as membership and game day promotions, signage, football inspirational material, HR booklets and documentation, templates, and all other ad hoc requirements.
- Working with others to uphold all brand guidelines to maintain consistency across collateral including Melbourne Storm Rugby League Club, Sunshine Coast Lightning Netball Club, National Rugby League, sponsors and partners and external relationships.
- Working with key stakeholders as required to utilise the image library to ensure brand consistency.
- Providing effective leadership, guidance and support to the Graphic Designer.
- Delivering strong, clear and honest communication and role modelling cooperation and team work with other individuals and departments across the Club.
- Keeping an eye on design trends and ensuring club creative is leading edge.
The successful candidate will possess:
- Tertiary qualifications in graphic design, visual communications or related discipline.
- At least 3 years’ minimum experience as a Graphic Designer within a fast paced, high volume production environment.
- A strong understanding of graphic design and layout principles.
- An intimate knowledge of Adobe InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator.
- Basic HTML coding, and demonstrated experience building digital assets and using CMS platforms.
- Proven experience using eDM software and designing templates and structures for automated communications.
- Demonstrated ability to deliver creative solutions to market using out-of-the-box thinking.
- An ability to brief creative concepts to partners and obtain quality outputs in line with stated objectives.
- Excellent organisation and time management skills and be committed to achieving deadlines.
- A high level of energy and a flexible and proactive approach.
