Details: The ACT Government Analytical Laboratory (ACTGAL) is a section of Research, Programs, and Scientific Services. It is a multidisciplinary scientific laboratory providing internationally accredited analytical services in the fields of Microbiology, Environmental Chemistry, Forensic Chemistry and Forensic Toxicology. The Quality Team supports the four scientific disciplines to maintain accreditation requirements. The laboratory is certified to the management standard ISO 9001. Each laboratory unit is individually accredited to ISO 17025.
Applicants are sought for the Senior Director who will provide strategic direction to ACTGAL, planning and coordination of the human, physical, financial and technological resources.
The position is initially temporary until August 2024, with Possibility of extension and/or permanency.
Eligibility/Other Requirements:
- Tertiary qualifications (or equivalent) in Science, Chemistry or Microbiology, or similar.
- Postgraduate qualifications and/or experience relevant to Public Health, Microbiology or Chemistry.
- Proven high level experience in, and capacity to effectively develop and manage the budget and resources for ACT’s public health laboratories.
- Demonstrated high-level experience in the development, implementation and maintenance of quality systems consistent with those applicable to operating a laboratory accredited to international standards.
