A day in the life of a Senior Disability Support Worker - Community Access Supports at Yooralla.So what will you actually be doing as a Senior Disability Support Worker (DSW) in Community Access Supports? This new exciting opportunity will be required to provide guidance and direct support to a group of clients and Disability Support Workers who are involved in a Community Based Social Group Program.
The program supports people between the ages of 50-75 access the community and participate in a schedule program of their choosing. This program runs Monday through Friday between 9:30am-2:30pm. There are also additional opportunities to pick up extra shifts on the weekend if desired.
This rewarding role will be the link between the Program and the Community Inclusion Coordinator and Manager to ensure that everything is being facilitated correctly. No one work day will be the same! You might support clients with:
working towards their goals
a wide range of recreation and social activities
shopping, appointments and events
engaging in meaningful opportunities and relationships, and
daily living and personal care needs, including assistance with meal preparation, personal hygiene and mobility.

About You
We're looking for people who have a minimum 2 years of experience as a Disability Support Worker, ideally in Community and Recreation. You'll share Yooralla’s values and have:
- Experience working with group based activities (Hubs, Recreation, Community Access)
- Experience leading teams
- Experience with BOCs, Meal Assistance and Manual Handling
- A positive approach, initiative and self-motivation
- Willingness to be committed to empowering our clients to reach their goals, and to upholding quality and safeguards in your everyday work
- Availability to work between 9:30am-2:30pm, Monday to Friday
- Effective communication skills, and good English literacy to communicate well with our clients
- Ability to work collaboratively in a diverse team
- Willingness to support clients with personal care activities
- Australian Driver Licence
- Current Working with Children check or the ability to obtain one
- The right to work in Australia, and
- The ability to get a First Aid and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation certificate if you don’t already have one.
A Certificate IV in Disability or other relevant qualification is highly desirable.
You will be subject to NDIS Worker Screening.
