An exciting opportunity has risen for a Senior AOD Support Worker to join our recently re-designed team at our Barwon Therapeutic Community located in Corio.
The Senior AOD Support Worker's primary aim is to ensure the Therapeutic Community is a safe and supportive environment for residents in our care to participate in treatment whilst ensuring our ‘community as method' is evident through rational role modelling and in line with case management principles.
Directly reporting to the Assistant Manager of the site, this role provides effective supervision and guidance to a team of Peer and Support Workers. For an effective oversight, the SSW is required to work across a 24-hour roster including weekdays, weekends, sleepover and overnight stand-up work.
If we were to capture a typical day in the life of a Senior Support Worker this would include -but not limited to- the following:
- Engaging in collaborative discussions to refine client needs and aspirations through effective assessment and care planning
- Providing support or conduct admit / discharge process.
- Delivering effective treatment and interventions whilst advocating for client's needs
- Elevating client success through the provision of accurate documentation and case noting
- Fostering engagement and collaboration within the team, creating a positive work environment whilst providing effective performance development and supervision for direct reports.
Ultimately, this role works collaboratively with colleagues and stakeholders to achieve common goals and desired outcomes for a successful recovery journey.
You may be the one we are looking for if you have:
- An undergraduate degree in Social Work, Mental Health or other health -related discipline along with a deep understanding of the AOD sector.
- Minimum of 2 years' experience working within the AOD or mental health sector and proven ability to navigate and understand AOD Services in the context of Case Management.
- Ability to lead, work, participate and collaborate within a multidisciplinary team.
- High level of interpersonal and communication skills with a natural ability to tailor style to suit a range of different needs and neurodiversity of our residents
- Drivers Licence essential
