About the Opportunity:
In this permanent part-time (2 days per week) Senior Diversional Therapist role you will be responsible for providing leading, guiding and managing the delivery of Diversional Therapy Services within the inpatient Palliative Care ward, and working as part of the multidisciplinary team.
You will be responsible for providing effective, efficient and evidence-based service through the application of a high level of clinical expertise and knowledge in the management of palliative patients.
The activities will be designed to increase the capacity of patients for meaningful use of leisure within the hospital, and thereby improving the patient’s quality of life.
What You'll be Doing:
The position is responsible for leading, guiding and managing the delivery of Diversional Therapy Services within the hospital, working as part of a multidisciplinary team.
As a senior clinician, the Diversional Therapist will be responsible for the provision of an efficient and effective Diversional Therapy service through the application of high level clinical expertise and knowledge in the management of the clinical caseload.
The activities will be designed to increase the capacity of patients for meaningful use of leisure time both within the hospital and at home, and thereby improve patient quality of life.
Where You'll Be Working:
- Liverpool Hospital, founded in 1813, is the major health service for south-western Sydney, providing services to the local government area of Liverpool City Council as well as district services to residents and visitors in the area. It also provides a range of state-wide services in areas such as critical care and trauma, neonatal intensive care and brain injury rehabilitation.
- The Hospital provides a health service of international standing, with 23 operating theatres, capacity for 877 beds, diagnostic and imaging services, emergency and trauma care, maternity, paediatric, cancer care, mental health, ambulatory care, allied health and medical and surgical services from birth to aged care.
- Liverpool Hospital is currently undergoing a major redevelopment. The $790 million Liverpool Health and Academic Precinct (LHAP) project will provide enhanced facilities and an increased capacity to meet future significant population growth for South Western Sydney.
- Liverpool Hospital is a principal referral and teaching Hospital of the University of NSW and the Western Sydney University and also welcome students from over 20 universities and colleges.
- Located in the heart of Liverpool City, the hospital is close to public transport, shopping centres and eateries.
How to Apply
To be considered for this position, please ensure you address the selection criteria as thoroughly as possible.
- Recognised Degree in Diversional Therapy or other qualification deemed appropriate by the employer, which provides eligibility for membership with the Diversional Therapy Association of Australia National Council.
- Demonstrated advanced clinical skills and significant experience in the provision of evidence based practice Diversional Therapy programs/ activities in Palliative Care.
- Demonstrated experience in the supervision of staff and/or students.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Demonstrated experience participating in the planning, implementation and evaluation of local service delivery incorporating the quality improvement process.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a demonstrated understanding of therapeutic interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated commitment to continuing professional education.
