Responsibilities:
Assist in the compilation of environmental-economic accounts using the System of Environmental Economic Accounting framework, including identifying appropriate source data, extracting and transforming data using R-coding in Databricks and populating environmental-economic accounts.
Contribute to the production of other types of environmental-economic assessments as required, using established environmental-economic valuation techniques.
Liaise with other departmental staff, including environmental scientists, to obtain data for specified indicators, and enter data into accounts.
Prepare and produce well-researched technical reports, briefing notes and submissions to ensure that the Agency and the Minister have sufficient, accurate, and quality environmental-economic accounting information and advice at their disposal.
Manage consultants undertaking economic studies relating to environmental management to ensure work undertaken is commensurate with NSW government and corporate priorities and policies.
Participate in inter-agency working groups, committees and multi-disciplinary projects as required, providing economic expertise, follow-up research and advice to ensure that the Branchâs and Divisionâs/corporate position is articulated consistently and appropriately.
Develop and maintain professional working relationships and networks with stakeholders to promote environmental-economic approaches to decision-making.
Skills:
Degree in Economics, Economic statistics or similar.
Familiarity with micro and macro-economic methods for estimating economic values
Demonstrated ability to code in R.
