About the role
We are currently looking for an Engineer – Flooding and Hydraulicsto join our Road Infrastructure Planning branch. The role will have you working around assessment, design, and programming. Working alongside a variety of people including teams such as disaster recovery, planning and external stakeholders.
You will contribute to the coordination of various studies in particular referring to our floodplain management plan and you will be key to the delivery, of flood information to internal and external customers and the provision of specialist advice to Council projects.

Minimum requirements of the role include:
- Tertiary Qualifications in Engineering (Civil, Environmental, Water or equivalent) and registration as a Professional Engineer (or the ability to acquire within 12 months of appointment into the role) under the Queensland Professional Engineers Act (RPEQ) in the area of Civil or Water Engineering.
- Substantial demonstrated experience in design flood estimation including hydrological and hydraulic assessment.
- Substantial demonstrated knowledge of design flood estimation and floodplain management approaches, policies, standards and guidelines and infrastructure planning, including the application of Australian Rainfall and Runoff.
- Demonstrated experience in project management, consultant management and the ability to deliver complex projects on time and budget and provide appropriate quality technical reports.
- Demonstrated excellent communication and interpersonal skills including written, verbal and presentation skills and negotiation skills to work effectively with a variety of stakeholders with differing expectations.
- Possess sound computer skills, including experience in relevant industry computer packages, particularly hydrological and hydraulic modelling and GIS and associated data management.
