About the Role
An excellent opportunity has arisen for a skilled Senior Staff Reservoir Engineer to join Santos’ Subsurface team based in Brisbane. Reporting to the Subsurface Team Leader, you will analyse field and well production performance information to help support future development drilling opportunities and reservoir management activities. The team is focused on coal seam gas developments in the Surat, Bowen and Gunnedah Basins, along with emerging tight sand/deep coal plays in the Bowen Basin.
Key Accountabilities:
- Provide Reservoir Engineering analysis of field and well production data and pressure information.
- Provide Reservoir Engineering input into the next tranche of field development projects using appropriate reservoir models (analytical and dynamic) to determine optimal well spacing, type curves and production forecasts.
- Work closely with development geologists and geophysicists within the team to fully integrate G&G with RE technical work.
- Maintain and develop appropriate reservoir models to provide gas and water production forecasts for various business processes.
- Ensure annual reservoir data gathering programmes are completed as required.
- Identify in-wellbore opportunities to optimise production from existing wells and to review poor well performance to identify reasons for poor performance and develop remedial action plans.
- Identify and build well hopper inventory in “Development Ready” areas.
- Ensure all subsurface technical work is appropriately assured through formal and informal technical reviews both internally and externally (JV).
- Keep up to date with new technology in Petroleum/Reservoir Engineering and any other related fields. Where appropriate, develop, justify and implement the use of new and innovative technology.
- Mentor/coach junior staff in the fundamentals of Reservoir Engineering, reservoir management and reservoir modelling.
- Act as a focal point, liaising with the Head of Reservoir Engineering on cohort development and technical excellence.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will be a Degree qualified subsurface professional (petroleum/Reservoir Engineering) with relevant work/industry experience and demonstrated history of collaboration in a subsurface team environment. In addition, you must also be able to demonstrate the following skills/experience:
- Significant Reservoir Engineering technical experience across appraisal, development and operations phases of field life.
- Experience working in a multi-disciplinary team of professionals and/or individual contributors.
- Reserves management experience.
- Proven self-starter and self-guided, with the ability to work both autonomously and collaboratively with key stakeholders
Any previous experience in the following, will be looked upon favourably:
- Practical Coal Seam Gas experience highly desired
- Knowledge in tight gas sands/deep coal plays
- Registered Professional Engineer Queensland (RPEQ) or working towards becoming registered.
