This is a demanding but rewarding and varied role. You will be the technical expert overseeing the management and maintenance of a broad and geographically diverse road network consisting of both sealed and unsealed roads, drainage, culverts, floodways and crossings. Projects will include routine maintenance and upkeep as well as remediation and repair resulting from severe weather events.
It requires the ability to liaise with colleagues, teams, external organisations and community members while managing not only current operational projects but also long term strategic work plans. In addition to contributing your skills and expertise you will also benefit from working alongside highly experienced colleagues with a considerable depth of knowledge of the area.
Required skills and competencies include:
- Civil Engineering degree plus RPEQ (or ability to quickly gain RPEQ status).
- Well rounded experience in overseeing Road Maintenance projects including significant experience of unsealed roads.
- Solid understanding of project management, contracts management, budgets, estimating, report preparation.
- Demonstrated experience in stakeholder liaison and negotiation.
- Well developed team leadership and mentoring skills with a collaborative approach.
- Strong communication skills both written and verbal.
