About the Role
We’re actively looking for knowledge from different voices, bringing in new thoughts and ideas so we can remain one of Australia’s most innovative Council’s.
The Digital & Information Services branch delivers agile and transformative information and technology, enabling council to be a leader in providing innovative and sustainable services to its communities.
As the Senior Systems Engineer, you will play a key role in systems development, analysis, trouble shooting, integration and implementation of changing business needs as provided by the data centre architecture and design; and to support Data Centre facilities, the Data Centres team and customer requests to maximize the effectiveness and availability of data centre services.
- Oversee the design, implementation, integration and analysis of Data Centre Services systems and Cloud Infrastructure providers.
- Demonstrate expert level knowledge of VMware, Veeam, NSX and Server Support in an enterprise environment.
- Install, configure, monitor operating systems, associated software, and hardware components for the Windows and Linux Server and VMWare platforms.
- Plan, standardise and automate repeatable operational processes using Infrastructure as Code scripting technologies for the Windows and VMWare platforms.
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to the Windows, Storage, Backups and VMWare platforms and provide ongoing support.
This position is based in the Sunshine Coast City Hall, in the heart of Maroochydore CBD. This state of the art and sustainable building is designed to achieve an innovative and collaborative workspace.
About you
You’ll be exposed to a depth of knowledge and opportunities to develop your leadership and technical skills, and a chance to grow with Council.
As the Senior Systems Engineer you will have demonstrated leadership and teamwork skills to act as a senior member of a team, empowering, coaching and developing other staff.
You will possess highly developed interpersonal and communication skills with particular emphasis in the areas of building effective relationships.
You will have strong research, analytical problem-solving skills along with time management and organisation skills.
As a requirement of this role, you will possess a bachelor’s degree in information technology or related discipline combined with industry technical certification and/or extensive experience in a senior position. Post graduate qualification will be highly regarded.
