THE ROLE
Applications are sought from experienced Senior Field Assistants to join the team at Ora Banda.
The responsibilities of this role will include:
To provide proactive and timely support for resource definition and exploration operations through hands on contribution in the field, including:
- Oversight and direction of Field Assistant teams
- Manage daily tasks and liaise with leadership team to prioritise work
- Training, mentoring and supervision of Field Assistants
- Purchase and maintenance of field equipment, supplies and other services
- Assist in tenement management activities (e.g. pegging, identifying correct areas to work).
- Liaison with drilling team
- Supervise and maintain high QAQC standards for all sample collection activities
- Collect, record and transport samples of rock, soil or water
- Collate information collected from a range of samples and carry out computer processing of the data
- Drill sampling- primarily RC and Diamond
- Drill chip collection, washing & storage - ‘chipping’
- Control the movement of sample bags - ‘bag farming’
- Supervise and maintain high QAQC standards for drill core processing operations which include mark-up, orientation, photography, magnetic susceptibility, RQD, densities, recoveries, etc
- Ensure compliance at all times with the Companies QAQC procedures
- Error-free sample dispatch to ensure that all relevant samples are dispatched to the relevant laboratory through the proper dispatch process
- Ensure all explorations vehicle kept clean & well maintained at all time
- Ensure Site Disturbance Permits are in place for all clearing activties.
- Ensure all clearing creates the least amount of disturbance and is consistent with the company’s Environmental Management Plan.
- Direct vegetation clearing and preparing and rehabilitation of drill sites
- Direct and maintain concise records of all rehabilitation activities on drill sites
- Simple surveying tasks – locating sites, gridding, track location
- Remote camp set up- maintenance and housekeeping
- Data entry and other computer tasks
- Ensure adequate stock items are maintained for day-to-day operational requirements
To be considered for the role, you will have the following qualifications, skills and experience:
- Recent and relevant exploration experience
- Be mechanically minded
- Enjoy a broad range of physical field related duties
- Broad knowledge of exploration and mining processes
- Experience in camp set up and maintenance (Highly Regarded)
- Diamond Core and RC sampling experience (Highly Regarded)
- Hold a current WA C-class Driver’s Licence
- GPS and DGPS operation (Highly Regarded)
- Must have a strong safety focus
- Ability to work and manage effectively within a small team
- Senior First Aid certificate desirable
- Ability to work unsupervised
- Excellent record keeping skills
