The Pathology Network West (PNW) Program is an exciting transformation program spanning the four health services of the Parkville Precinct: The Royal Melbourne Hospital, The Royal Women’s Hospital, The Royal Children’s Hospital, and Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre. This strategic program will amalgamate the pathology services within the Parkville Precinct to provide world-class, research-led public pathology services. The Royal Melbourne Hospital is the lead site for the PNW Program, maintaining continued close relationships with the hospitals throughout the Program.
Pathology services in the Precinct provide essential services for patients and insightful and timely advice for clinicians. The vision of the PNW Program is to provide more equitable access to larger, better equipped pathology services and specialised testing expertise, helping more patients to benefit from research-driven outcomes.
The purpose of this role is to provide financial Business Partnering expertise to PNW. Working across the precinct the Senior Finance Business Partner, reporting to the Finance Director, you will provide accurate, timely and high-quality performance insights for the entity, assist in maintaining a performance management framework (leading budget and forecast delivery), and support the financial sustainability of the entity.
Your new role:
- Oversee the financial management of the PNW entity, providing financial and business management advice and ensuring all activities are delivered on time with a high level of quality and financial stewardship.
- Support system enhancement to ensure financial reporting systems are effective and remain fit for purpose.
- Engage in stakeholder management and customer service to build strong collaborative relationships both within the PNW program and other key external entities.
About you:
- You have experience with multi-stakeholder management in a complex environment.
- You have excellent time management and prioritisation skills.
- You have great communication skills including effective presentation skills.
- You hold relevant tertiary qualifications or equivalent professional experience.

As part of the Victorian Department of Health reforms, the pathology services from the Royal Melbourne Hospital, Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre, the Royal Women’s Hospital, and the Royal Children’s Hospital will, through a change process that is in progress, transition to a new separate public pathology entity. The new model for delivering public pathology services will present an exciting opportunity to improve the scope, scale and reach of pathology services and testing capability to all Victorians.
As this role is with the Royal Melbourne Hospital, the successful candidate for this role will be initially employed by Melbourne Health. Once the change process has been completed and the new public pathology entity is fully formed, which is anticipated to be in late 2024, this position and the successful candidate’s employment (including terms and conditions of employment) will transition to the new public pathology entity.
