About the role
We are looking for a Senior Finance Officer who will be responsible for coordinating the daily accounting, budget and reporting obligations of the Agency. While the scope of work is defined by the operational priorities, the role is also responsible for supporting the Finance team to deliver accurate, reliable and focused results that meet stakeholder expectations and the Directorate’s service delivery standards. In addition, identifying and implementing improvements to current policies, work practices, systems and controls are other primary responsibilities of this role.
On a day-to-day basis you will be responsible for:
· Managing the financial transactional operations of the agency, accounts payable and receivable, end of month close-off transactions and operational performance reporting, as well as ensuring all transactional operations are performed in accordance with relevant legislation, accounting policies and standards
· Participating in fulfilling the financial reporting obligations of the Finance directorate, monthly reporting to the Executive Leadership Team and Treasury as well as preparing of forward estimates and budgets, costing projects, audit activities and preparing financial statements.
· Regularly assessing governance and controls in place and providing updates on risk related matters. Assisting in the development and updating of new and existing financial management policies.
Our ideal candidate will have Tertiary qualifications in accounting or a business-related discipline and experience in leading, managing and delivering in a financial services environment.
