Deliver innovative food products as Senior Product Technologist for a leading Australian agri-business
The companyJoin a growing integrated agri-food business which is part of a leading global company. Operating across numerous sites, the role can be based in Melbourne or regional Victoria and will require some travel. The Senior Product Technologist partners with commercial and production teams to bring to life innovative and delicious food products. You will play a key hands-on role in assessing new and existing processes, as well as executing the R&D and product improvement agenda.
The Role
Responsibilities will include:
- Leading and delivering product development for breakthrough innovation projects
- Project managing your projects through the stage-gate process
- Preparation of costings for product concepts
- Stakeholder engagement – marketing & sales team, planning, operations, and procurement
- Raw materials management - initiate, develop, acquire, and test for sample trials
- Leading industrial scale trials, including data collection for improvements and specifications
- Presenting samples for customer, shelf life, and nutrition information panel validation
- Completing customer specific documents and relevant specifications
- Writing operating procedures and specifications for new products or processes
- Product and process optimisation – formulation change, packaging etc
You have:
- 5 years+ experience in food manufacturing either in a factory/ kitchen lab environment (with degree qualification)
- Excellent knowledge of food preparation, technical & functional food ingredients, cooking and food safety standards within Australia and New Zealand
- Excellent project management capability- impeccable time management, data management, planning, and organisational skills… with great attention to detail.
- Strong communication skills – ability to present new development concepts to internal and external stakeholders
- A team player mindset – you love working in a team and collaborating cross functionally to deliver
- Robust Microsoft Office skills (particularly Excel)
- A current driver’s license - some travel required
