Why Your Role Matters:
As the Senior Governance Administrator, you will play a key role in providing professional and confidential executive support for senior management meetings and executive support to the Director of Governance. You'll also be responsible for supporting selected committees, delivering projects, providing advice on the application of policies and resolving issues communicated to the Chancellor via his/her email address.
The Senior Governance Administrator reports to the Director of Governance. The position will have significant working relationships with team members in Governance, the University Leadership Team (ULT), members of Council and its committees, and the wider university community.
The role has no direct reports.
Accountabilities:
- Oversee and manage the development of ULT meeting packs, including receipt of agenda items from ULT members, approval of agendas by the Vice-Chancellor and publication of meeting packs.
- Facilitate the effective operation of Council, Council committees and senior management meetings liaising with stakeholders to establish meeting dates and schedules, preparing membership documents and onboarding activities and reporting on research regarding potential risks/issues arising in connection with the operation of committees.
- Drive the development of documentation required for the effective management and operation of committees, including to meet current and emerging legislative compliance obligations (for example, terms of reference, declarations of interests, foreign affiliations, Defence security requirements).
- Proactively identify and resolve complex or sensitive issues arising in connection with the operation of committees and other compliance activities of the Unit.
- Provide authoritative governance and strategic advice, including best practice on governance and committee performance, to stakeholders in line with the University's governance obligations.

We are looking for a proactive professional with experience in governance who is capable of building effective relationships with executives, committee members and staff across UNSW.
- A relevant tertiary qualification and several years' relevant work experience or equivalent combination of knowledge, training and experience.
- Demonstrated understanding of the role and operation of governance bodies with demonstrated experience in providing high-level administrative support in a governance context.
- Demonstrated understanding of governance systems within the tertiary education sector.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to liaise and communicate with a wide range of people including senior management, external Council and Committee members and team members.
- Demonstrated high level personal integrity and professional commitment, and the ability to deal with confidential matters with diplomacy and discretion.
- Demonstrated ability to operate with a high level of independence and judgement and with a proven ability to work effectively on multiple tasks, meet deadlines, manage time, maintain high attention to detail and ensure targeted outcomes.
- Advanced computer skills, and in particular PowerPoint presentation skills, and use of Word, Excel (spreadsheets), databases, computerised diary systems (Outlook) and the internet.
- Demonstrated project management, analysis, research, planning and advisory skills, combined with creative problem-solving skills.
- Proven organisational skills and the ability to operate autonomously while demonstrating strong initiative and a proactive approach to driving process improvement.
