The Federal Court of Australia is recruiting a Senior Graphic Designer to join our communication team based in Canberra.
The team provides innovative, best practice advice and support, as well as having a responsibility for internal and external communication, websites, intranets, social media, graphic design, publications and forms, corporate publications, content management and communication strategy and events.

The communications team provides innovative, best practice advice and support, ensuring information reaches the right people, using the right channel, at the right time. The team has responsibility for internal and external communication, websites, intranets, social media, graphic design, publications and forms, corporate publications, content management and communication strategy and events.
We are looking for an enthusiastic, creative and innovative Senior Graphic Designer to join our team. Based in Canberra, the senior designer will use their specialist technical skills to produce a range of internal and external material for the Courts and Tribunals we support, including newsletters, publications, forms, brochures, corporate material, reports, posters, invitations, style guides, digital assets, online products and eLearning material. Under limited supervision, the senior designer will also oversee large production schedules, including outsourcing work where required.
Key responsibilities
This position is integral to the activities of the communications team and requires a person who can operate with autonomy to:
- develop and deliver high-quality creative material such as newsletters, reports, publications, forms, posters, invitations and other print and digital assets including editing photo and video content
- approve printers' proofs and ensure all design work (digital and print) conforms to the Court and Tribunal style guides, brand and accessibility requirements
- manage print and other contracts and ensure compliance and timely delivery
- provide high level advice and technical expertise on design and video projects, planning and production
- end to end design project management, from interpreting design briefs to concept development and design phases, through to completion
- maintain image and template libraries including stock image management and compliance with copyright requirements
- design and optimise digital content for the Courts and Tribunal websites, intranets and SharePoint sites
- update and maintain the style guides and provide advice to business areas on the correct application, and
- proofread written material to ensure a high level of accuracy, including providing advice to content owners.
