About the Role
An opportunity exists for a Senior HR Advisor to join our team. The role of the Senior HR Advisor is to provide operational support to the business in all areas of Human Resources. This role aims to improve working relationships, build morale and increase productivity and retention. This position will assist senior management in developing and implementing frameworks for the business, including the preparation and implementation of company policies and procedures and promoting employee engagement and culture initiatives.
This role is Brisbane based and reports to the VP Corporate Services who is based in Perth, WA. The ideal candidate will be effective at communicating with stakeholders across three states, working alongside a small HR team. Occasional travel will be required.
Duties Include
- Assist with the development; implementation and monitoring of policies and procedures based on relevant legislation and Human Resources management practices to provide an effective, consistent and timely delivery of human resource services to support organisational needs.
- Support leaders with the interpretation of, and adherence to, policies and procedures and interpretation of employment legislation.
- Ensure that grievances, complaints and ER matters are handled promptly and sensitively, and provide timely and appropriate advice and support to business leaders.
- Assisting with any potential Fair Work Commission cases, including preparing and presenting evidence, negotiating settlements and resolving disputes.
- Represent the organisation in meetings with unions or external parties as and when necessary.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of HRIS Systems and practices within the organisation.
- Administer the performance review process by coordinating with the management team to ensure all Team Members have an annual performance review and that personnel files are up to date and reflect the most recent annual employee performance appraisal.
- Draft and prepare reports, slide presentations, letters, memos and other documents in relation to various Human Resources functions as required.
- Assist with strategic workforce planning, succession planning, reward and recognition incentives and overall organisational design.
- Assist Managers with recruitment and selection including interviews, medicals and reference checks.
- Process, verify and maintain personnel related documentation, including training, grievances, performance evaluations, classifications and Team Member leaves of absence.
What you'll need
- An ability to interpret legislation, regulations, Awards, Industrial Agreements together with policies and procedures.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including counselling, negotiating and report writing.
- An ability to interact proactively with management and staff at all levels of the organisation in the resolution of HR issues.
- Demonstrated competence in conceptual, analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Well-developed organisational and administrative skills, including strong attention to detail.
- Ability to operate independently within a HR framework while prioritising competing work demands and meeting deadlines.
- Demonstrated capacity to effectively communicate, promote and uphold HR initiatives and values, including discretion and confidentiality.
- Ability to contribute towards the development and implementation of HR programs and initiatives to meet the needs of the organisation.
Education and Experience
- Tertiary qualification in Human Resources or related discipline (preferred).
- 5 years’ experience in similar role.
- Experience with investigations, mediation, staff grievance issues or performance counselling.
- Passionate about all things people and culture.
- Experience in representing employers in the Fair Work Commission such as unfair dismissal, general protections, and adverse actions is highly desired.
- Experience in performance management, including goal setting, performance reviews, and coaching managers to improve employee performance is highly desired.
