Department of Government Services brings together Digital Victoria, Service Victoria, Local Government Victoria, Consumer Affairs Victoria, the grant program centre and consolidates procurement policy, and whole of Victorian government telecommunications policy as well as the Working With Children Checks and Births, Deaths and Marriages. Oversight of Cenitex and the Public Record Office Victoria also transfers to DGS.
About the role
Reporting to the M Manager, Application Analysis and Design, the Senior Information and Support Analyst is responsible for the analysis and interpretation of organisational data and for generating reports to support the strategic decision making within the WSU.
The Senior Information and Support Analyst will additionally support database and application development through User Acceptance Testing (UAT). The role will assist in the provision of IT operational support, including database management and identifying and resolving data issues to benefit the business and users.
Key Accountabilities include:
- Applying expertise and technical knowledge of statistical analysis, data analytics and analytical tools (Power BI; SRSS), towards the preparation of timely reports, briefings, proposals and other similar documents to support the business unit
- Providing specialist support to staff within the WSU to resolve data and functionality queries for the Working with Children and National Disability Insurance Scheme databases.
- Actively contributing to the review of processes, systems and methods to identify improvements to the WSU IT functions and improve performance for the business
- Developing and maintaining working relationships with internal and external stakeholders including central agencies and Departmental Business Units/Agencies.
About you
To be considered for the role, you must be able to demonstrate:
- Demonstrated knowledge of SQL, statistical programming, data visualisation and presentation.
- Demonstrated applied experience and/or advanced academic knowledge in application quality assurance testing.
- Demonstrated experience and/or advanced understanding of application development methodologies (DevOps; Agile), testing phases and experience in identifying and triaging defects.
- Proven ability to establish and maintain relationships with people at all levels and from different backgrounds and organisations.
- Demonstrated ability to provide support and guidance to team members and stakeholders in the domain of technical capability.
- A relevant tertiary qualification (IT; Data Analytics or similar) or demonstrated industry experience would be desirable (not mandatory)
