Your New Role
In this newly created role you'll be responsible for the establishment of the middle office function including systems and processes at Australian Ethical, which we anticipate to be the first twelve months of the role. Following implementation, the role will be responsible for managing a timely trade execution lifecycle from placement to settlement including governance and compliance, as well as acting as the central point of contact for a variety of internal and external stakeholders.
Key responsibilities include:
Investment Operations
• Oversight of the trade matching and settlement process
• Corporate actions announcements and processing
• Capital calls and distribution processing
• Processing manual bookings and cash instructions to Custodians
• Daily reconciliation of trades and positions, including the investigation and rectification of discrepancies and error booking procedures
• Cash forecasting - review and manual instruction if required
• Collateral management
• Implement and maintain investment management systems and position keeping records (ie. IBOR, OMS, RMS), including institutional books of record
• Derivatives management
• Coordinate new security set ups
• New client, broker and counterparty onboarding
• Oversight of outsourced service providers and issue / breach resolution
• Daily operational interface for external clients, brokers and counterparties
• Oversee and manage stock borrowing and lending
Investment Team and Client Support
• Daily support for Investment team members for all operational matters (i.e. trade bookings, data issues, position breaks, general queries)
• Point of contact and responsible for delivering Investment team operational support and services to external clients, vendors, and counterparties
• Trade and broker analysis and reporting
• Responsible all coordinating reporting requests for the Investments function, working with various internal departments and vendors for report build, production and delivery.
• Coordinate Investment team responses to external RFP and ODD requests
• Coordinate external ODD on-site reviews by external parties
• Support and coordinate queries from external clients
• Provide operational support services for external Managers/JV's (where required)
Investment Governance and Compliance
• Investments pre and post trade compliance
• Coordinate the capture of key Investment Risk & Compliance metrics for trend analysis
• Ensure appropriate internal controls for the Investments business
• Manage GS007 certification (or similar) and ongoing compliance
• Coordinate Investment Business Continuity Plan
• Coordinate Operational Due Diligence requests
• Exposure reporting
• Vendor management for Investments (and ensure minimum regulatory requirements are met)
• Investments policy and procedure administration (periodic review, updates, etc)
• Implement processes per Outsourcing and Third-Party Risk Management Policies
About You
You're a highly experienced, practised Investment Operations Manager with a Super Fund or Asset Management background. Ideally you've been involved in the establishment / transformation of a middle office, including the implementation phase. You know what good looks like, and are a natural when it comes to managing a wide variety of stakeholders. If you have all, or most of the following, we'd love to hear from you:
• 10+ years' experience in Investment Operations, including experience in a superannuation fund, and/or asset manager with institutional clients
• Demonstrated experience leading the establishment, implementation / transformation and ongoing management of a middle office function
• Proven track record of developing and maintaining relationships with back and front office
• Strong third party management skills including clients, brokers, counterparties, and custodians
• Relevant Tertiary Qualifications
