The JV Audit & Compliance Lead is responsible for the management and oversight of financial/accounting procedure Joint Venture audit activities and providing finance related forensic accounting and litigation support services and includes:
Key Responsibilities include:
- Managing Upstream APLNG Joint Venture financial/accounting procedure Operated Joint Venture audits (of Upstream APLNG as Operator) and working closely with the JV Commercial / Non-Op team to support the delivery of APLNG's audit of Non-Operated Joint Venture audit activities in compliance with the relevant Operating Agreements.
- Managing APLNG Joint Venture Shareholder Audits of Origin as APLNG Upstream Operator, CSG Marketing Agent, Corporate Services Provider (including Origin Audits of APLNG Downstream Operator, APLNG LNG Marketing Agent) in compliance with the relevant agreements.
- As the central point of contact on JV audits, engaging with internal stakeholders across Integrated Gas and APLNG (and Shareholders) and with external stakeholders (Upstream APLNG Joint Venture partners) and advisors (e.g. legal or auditors) in relation to Joint Venture audit matters.
- Support the business on financial Joint Venture audit activities including agreeing to audit findings, responses and remedial actions with the accountable person, monitoring remediation activities and managing the audits through to close out and resolution of issues.
- Providing periodic reporting to key stakeholders on audit matters, status and remediation action progress.
- Working closely with the Legal and JV Commercial teams and external advisors to provide finance assistance with forensic analysis of accounting transactions, data and substantiation to support ongoing litigation; consolidating litigation finance support work including documenting relevant key processes, walkthroughs and relevant knowledge.
- Liaison with Internal Auditors to ensure that internal audit assignments, in relation to financial audits, are managed in a consistent manner.
- Implement continuous improvements to financial processes, systems, and controls to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of audit processes.
- Role model Origin values and behaviours, actively championing business changes in alignment with strategy and hold management team accountable for the same.
Skills/Experience/Qualifications
Skills:
- 5+ years’ experience in a Joint Venture audit, External Audit, Internal audit, legal or financial governance role
- Fully qualified CA or CPA and Big 4 or large listed company experience with a sound knowledge of accounting principles, audit processes and financial controls.
- Excellent communication both verbal and written, including preparation of reports and presentation skills.
- Demonstrated ability in building relationships, influencing leaders, supporting teams, and effectively engaging with and managing both internal and external stakeholders to achieve commercial objectives.
- Experience discussing and resolving audit issues through to resolution with senior stakeholders.
- Excellent analytical skills with a high level of business acumen, to analyse and interrogate financial information and present in a logical and clear manner, with high attention to detail.
- Proactive and proven ability to manage multiple processes, take ownership, problem solve and work independently to deliver to deadlines.
