About us
Sequins (www.sequins.bio) core technologies include a widely published program originating at the Garvan Institute of Medical Research (in Sydney). The platform combines synthetic spike-in DNA and RNA controls with bioinformatic software used during genome sequencing to increase the accuracy, performance, and quality of genomic data.
About You
With your experience in basic microbiology and molecular biology methods, you will work with a multidisciplinary team to develop, manage and/or support routine laboratory activities at Sequins.
Responsibilities:
- Manage and execute daily lab tasks to ensure smooth operations and compliance with protocols, including advanced molecular biology techniques like PCR, DNA/RNA extraction, and library preparation for next-gen sequencing.
- Develop and optimise PCR experiments and protocols, while also performing quality control checks, validations, and other quality activities to verify performance of test assays.
- Analyse and interpret experimental data, maintaining detailed records, and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams to provide molecular biology expertise for interdisciplinary projects.
- Manage and maintain lab equipment, ensuring proper functioning, and coordinate repairs or replacements as needed.
- Follow and contribute to the creation of work instructions and standard operating procedures.
- Prepare and maintain lab reagents and solutions, and responsible for monitoring supply inventory and communicating ordering needs.
Requirements:
- Bachelor degree in Biotechnology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, or related field.
- At least 3 years of experience working in GMO and/or infectious diseases lab.
- Proficiency in a broad range of PCR technologies and nucleic acid purification methods.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent organisational and communication skills.
- Proven working knowledge of laboratory safety protocols and procedures.
- Able to easily understand complex instructions and adaptable to dynamic changes.
Desirable
- Experience in producing next-generation sequencing libraries and basic analysis of next-generation sequencing data.
- Understanding compliance with a Quality Management System.
