Criminal & Civil Law (Legal) Government - State (Government & Defence) Full time maximum term position up to 18 months Salary based on experience, range: $98,902 - $123,624 plus super Up to $15,900 in salary packaging and hybrid WFH & office model About the role: In this role you will act as an advocate by providing high quality legal services including casework and advice services in citizenship law matters. You will also participate in community legal education and develop collaborative relationships between VLA and local stakeholders. Our Senior Lawyers also provide supervision and mentoring to less experienced lawyers and assist in the development of strategies to improve access to justice, including representing VLA in consultations and working groups.
This role is based at our Sunshine office on Wurundjeri Country About you: As our ideal candidate, you will possess: Substantial knowledge or practical experience in migration law with a focus on citizenship law and relevant court and tribunal procedures with the capacity to work as an advocate and caseworker. Ability to provide strategic advice on legal and policy issues and positively engage with key partner agencies to appropriately manage referrals. Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively with others. Ability to supervise legal work and to mentor and train staff from community legal services and contribute to the development of individuals and their knowledge and skills in citizenship law.
