About the role:
In this role you will:
• With limited supervision manage and undertake compliance related litigation, statutory appeal and tribunal related litigation for the three agencies, primarily prosecutions for offences committed against the Animal Management (Cats and Dogs) Act 2008 and Animal Care and Protection Act 2001.
• Appear as an advocate and instruct legal service providers in appeals and prosecutions, including in hearings and summary trials, pleas, directions hearings, mediations and mentions in various courts and tribunals including the Magistrates Court, District Court, Land Court, Planning & Environment Court and QCAT.
• Provide high level, expert oral and written legal advice and solutions to all staff within the three agencies up to Executive Director and Deputy Director-General level, including on complex and sensitive legal matters.
• Report on litigation to the Ministers, Directors-General and other senior managers in the three agencies.
This position requires:
• Bachelor of Laws Degree; and
• Admission, or eligibility for immediate admission to the legal profession as a barrister, solicitor, or Australian lawyer legal practitioner of by the Supreme Court of Queensland.
