At this level the successful candidate may coordinate or lead the activities of other staff and is expected to have an active and effective record of supervising Higher Degree by Research students successfully to completion as principal supervisor. This position will report to the Discipline Leader for Imaging, Sensing, and Biomedical Engineering.It is expected that the successful applicant would have the demonstrated capability and willingness to teach into one or more of the following teaching areas within the school:Introductory programmingIntermediate systems programmingEmbedded and digital systems at the introductory, intermediate or advanced undergraduate levelEngineering individual capstone projects, research methods and engineering professional practice at the senior undergraduate and postgraduate levelsElectrical engineering team projects and engineering professional practice at the introductory or intermediate undergraduate levelIn addition, applicants are expected to be able to teach courses in the advanced electrical engineering curriculum aligned with their area of research expertise.Key responsibilities will include but are not limited too:TeachingResearchSupervision and Researcher DevelopmentCitizenship and ServiceThis is a teaching & research position. The full-time equivalent base salary will be in the range $132,201.83 - $152,202.33, plus a generous super allowance of up to 17%. The total FTE package will be up to $154,676.15 - $178,076.72 annually. As this role is covered by an Enterprise Agreement, you will also receive regular remuneration increases – at least once a year.The greater of joining the UQ community are broad: from being part of a university, to recognition of prior service with other Australian universities, up to 26 weeks of paid parental leave, 17.5% annual leave loading, flexible working arrangements including hybrid on site/WFH options and flexible start/finish times, and genuine career progression opportunities via the academic promotions process.About YouCompletion of a PhD in Electrical Engineering or related fieldBackground in applications of terahertz quantum-cascade lasers.Experience with the design and application of state-of-the-art Terahertz imaging and spectroscopy systems base on terahertz quantum-cascade lasers.Experience with the design and application of optical cryostats and coolers including liquid helium flow, liquid nitrogen flow, mechanical and thermoelectric cooler technologies.Experience with the design, development and applications in the field of Terahertz and mid infrared (MIR) scattering Near-Field Optical-Microscopy (s-SNOM).An established profile in teaching and research in the discipline area.National recognition in Terahertz Imaging, with an internationally developing profile and an established record of publications in reputed refereed journal and presenting at conferences.A strong record of successfully seeking, obtaining and managing external research funding.Evidence of a high level of quality teaching at undergraduate, honours and postgraduate level across a variety of settings, including small and large groups.A strong track record of course coordination and participation in the development and continuous innovation of new programs, curriculum design and course material in the discipline area.A solid record of supervision of Honours and Research Higher Degree students to successful completion.A growing record of meaningful internal service roles in conjunction with a strong contribution to external activities.In addition, the following mandatory requirements apply:Work Rights: Visa sponsorship may be available for this appointment.Background Checks: All final applicants for this position may be asked to consent to a criminal record check.
