Our operations extend from the New South Wales border to the base of the Toowoomba ranges.About the roleThe Legal Counsel team works collaboratively with the business groups under a business partnership model. It is led by the Manager, Legal Counsel, who fosters a culture of creating value for the business. Reporting to the Manager, Legal Counsel, your focus will be on maximising value to Seqwater, whilst prioritising a diverse workload.Your work will include:
- Negotiating, reviewing, and drafting legal agreements (new and existing) including construction contracts, service agreements and consultancy agreements.
- Property and environmental advice, including easements, leases/licences.
- Advising on the application and interpretation of legislation (e.g. Water Supply (Safety and Reliability) Act)
- Managing and advising on disputes under contracts and agreements.
- Tertiary qualifications in law with current practising certificate.
- 8 years relevant post admission experience with experience in the following disciplines: commercial agreements, procurement, property, construction/infrastructure, government.
- a mature and diplomatic manner to clarify concerns, specify legal issues and advise on the most appropriate course of action, consistent with Seqwater's strategic direction and previous decisions and legal advice.
- Demonstrated ability in managing high-level stakeholder relationships and dealing effectively and sensitively with a wide range of people.
