About the Opportunity
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Senior Legal Counsel to join our innovative team, driving the future of sustainable power in Queensland. Reporting to the Legal & Governance Manager, this part-time (3 to 4 days per week) 12 Month Contract position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to CleanCo's dynamic developments and operations in the ever-evolving renewable energy sector.
You will be responsible for delivering comprehensive legal services, spanning commercial, renewable energy, and project-related areas. Your responsibilities will include managing legal matters, providing strategic Legal Counsel, and overseeing the thorough review, negotiation, and execution of contracts and legal strategies in alignment with CleanCo’s compliance and risk protocols.
You'll be the go-to expert, providing specialised advisory support for all facets of renewable energy projects—from generation and power purchase to retail sale and compliance across your portfolio.
About you
- You hold a Bachelor of Law and ideally an Unrestricted Practicing Certificate with at least 7 years PQE (desired, not essential)
- Significant experience with a top tier private practice law firm, or ASX Listed or government owned in-house legal team
- Excellent knowledge of the National Electricity Law and/or National Gas Law rules and regulations will be highly regarded
- Previous experience working on legal matters in a commercial setting with a focus on renewable energy or resource management, corporate structuring or banking and finance
- Experience in the preparation of a broad range of contracts and documentation, relevant to energy /resources including construction & procurement, project finance, corporate structuring, as well as project documentation and due diligence reports
- Proven skills in contract management and advice, contract negotiation and drafting
- Attention to detail, good communication skills, autonomy, the ability to build relationships across an evolving company, research skills and the ability to adopt a commercial and pragmatic approach in providing solutions
- Self-motivated, you thrive working in a busy high-performance team environment, embracing challenges, always seeking to drive the right outcome, adopting a service delivery mentality and enjoying building effective and lasting relationships
- Proven capacity and willingness to contribute broadly and across a range of matters
