As Senior Legal Counsel you will be responsible for providing legal support and advice across the Retail and Consumer Division (R&C Division). This will include working on contract reviews, negotiations and drafting bespoke and complex contracts, and providing quality and timely legal support to the R&C Division and the Legal Leadership Team (LLT).
This position is a full time role, based at Sydney Olympic Park with flexible work from home options.
Please note this position will be based in Sydney.
The Role
We are looking for a Senior Legal Counsel who will play a critical role in providing legal guidance and support to Retail and Consumer Division (R&C Division). The successful candidate will work closely with the executive team and various verticals within the R&C Division to ensure compliance with laws and regulations, manage legal risks and contribute to the achievement of Toll's and the R&C Division's business objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Autonomously review, negotiate and draft bespoke and complex contracts, in line with Toll's preferred positions
- Work closely with the R&C Division and understand the requirements in the service industry when considering legal issues
- Actively support the strategies, initiatives and processes outlined by the Lead Counsel to drive the achievement of legal objectives for the R&C Division
- Support workload of other lawyers within the Global Logistics Australia legal team
- Mentor more junior members of the Global Logistics Australia legal team
- Contribute to wider Toll Group legal projects and support of other Toll Group lawyers where requested
- Reporting to Lead Counsel, as required
- Contribution to monthly Divisional Legal Report
- Maintain current knowledge of alterations in legislation
Qualifications-
- Minimum of 6 years' post qualification experience
- Experience in leading complex face-to-face negotiations and driving outcomes
- Experience in supporting (or leading) project work e.g. Business training or implementation of new policies and procedures
- Excellent negotiation and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast paced environment
- Degree in Law
- Admitted as a Legal Practitioner with current unrestricted legal practising certificate in Australia
- Previous experience working with Government contracts and/or Healthcare contracts would be an advantage
- High level of integrity and ethical standards
